</embed></object><hr></div><blockquote><div align="justify"><i><span style="font-size: 11px; line-height: normal">Saint Hood River. Une petite ville tranquille, perdue dans les profondeurs de l’Oregon et séparée du reste du monde par une dense forêt au doux ronronnement des ruisseaux et par une rivière survolée d'un grand pont – l'unique moyen d’accéder de l’autre côté et de rejoindre les villes voisines. C’est ce petit coin aux allures paradisiaques que choisit Red Cartwight, auteur à succès d’une série de thrillers inquiétants, pour y passer ses vacances. Alors que, fasciné par la bienveillance des habitants et la beauté des paysages, il se réconcilie de nouveau avec sa machine à écrire, après deux longues années durant lesquelles il fut victime d’une panne d’inspiration, Red Cartwight ne tarde pas à remarquer que cette ville est loin d’être aussi idyllique, surtout une fois la nuit tombée. Au fil des jours, les événements étranges se succèdent – disparitions, meurtres, agressions, comportements violents… Il ne lui faut pas beaucoup de temps pour réaliser que toutes ces situations, il les a déjà connu, récemment... Dans son imagination. Chaque nouveau meurtre est lié, d’une façon ou d’une autre, à des énigmes déjà tracées sur les pages de son roman fraîchement entamé. Et le pire n’est encore qu’à venir… Alors qu’il tente de retrouver des pistes et d’arranger la situation, ses mots et ses intrigues laissent de sombres empreintes sur la population de St. Hood River et la ville en elle-même. Et les quelques pages de son livre qu'il s'apprêtait à brûler sans pitié, ne tardent pas à disparaître mystérieusement. Que se passera-t-il par la suite ? Désormais, lui-même l’ignore… Un conseil, toutefois. Evitez l’obscurité.
